The Indian Values and Ethics
The Bharat ( India ) is known for its rich culture , heritage , values ,ethics and diversity. This nation has seen different era ,right from Vedic period of Sages , King Manu ,Ikshvaku , to Ramayana , Mahabharata and the era of King Asoka ,Knishaka ,Gupta to modern times.
The dominant religion of India , Hinduism ,is essentially tolerant ,it assimilated rather than converting other groups. Pluralism as a value implied tolerance of other styles of life while preserving one’s own.
As the Hindus believed in the existence of many paths ( as they worship number of gods and goddesses ,on the basis of their own faith and belief) leading to the same ultimate reality. Doctrines and rituals certainly differed , but the followers of different religions lived in relative harmony in India.
The spiritual emphasis in Indian life was never lost sight of , whether men lived in it or left society. Dharma is an important way of life. The stability of Indian life for long centuries rested on the firm foundation of Dharma. Through the inculcation of the spirit of Dharma ,high standards of ethics , clear cut codes of behaviour ,and widespread acceptance of non material values as of higher importance than possessions ,comes to be the expression of true Indian culture in ordinary society.
